i.P.a.d.

So if you're reading this... you know that I love anything new and fabulous. I love having the newest gadgets. I'm not sure where I get this from considering my mom isn't so technically savvy and if Daddy were still here... I'm sure he wouldn't be too hip either. All of my friends all have flip phones and I had to beg the rest to switch to a bberry.. But that's beside the point.

I'm here to introduce my iPad!

She's so pretty, new and shiny! I think I love her. (If I could just come up with a name for her..)

I bought this iPad for my mother to use. She will not get off my iMac. She watches tons and tons of Korean dramas from Korea directly. So I got this so she could go in her room (don't forget that we live together) and watch them there. (Sidenote: iPad doesn't support flash. Wish I would have know about that.)

Twenty minutes after I open the box to play with it... Mama Cho comes home and takes it away from me. Because she's tired.

Walk by her room and this is what I found...

Passed out cold with the volume as loud as it would go. If you are wondering what she's watching.... Yeah those are Korean ladies performing... wait for it.... Beyonce's Crazy in Love! How.. soothing!

On the road again...

So this past weekend was my daddy's side of the family's annual get together at High Rock Lake in North Carolina.. Here are a few tidbits from our wonderful glorious trip to TARHEEL country.
1. I get a phone call from my darling mother on Thursday, she tells me where we should book a hotel room. Mind you in my head we're going to NC. She tells me i-77 exit 79ish. So I book a hotel off i-77 exit 82 on the NC side, she then tells me that it should be on the SC side. Well that hotel that I booked, I was locked into a lower rate and already billed my check card for that amount! So we had to drive 82 miles out of the way to this country bumpkin Hampton Inn at the foothills of the MOUNTAINS. Yeah thanks Mom.

2. As we're traveling to make her TEE-TIME at exit 79 on i-77 SC side, her back tire BLOWS OUT! We call the highway patrol to see if they'll come help. They said they would. We waited for 30 mins then I got out of the car to see the damage. Luckily, my bubbies and I were able to get someone to stop to help this damsel in distress! Very nice but creepy looking old man in a furniture moving truck stops and changes her tire for us. He only accepted a payment of Diet Coke! And told us that he has invented a product to help people out if this ever happened to them.. it blinks HELP above your tag. So when it becomes available I think you should get one too... http://www.helpalerter.com/

(She was assessing the man's work!! ) Sidenote:: who is lovin the faux crocs!?!?
(She never understood why there were pieces of tires on the roads... Umm you get it now, Ilson??)

3. We didn't make it to her tee-time ( I thought she was going to have a fit, well she should have checked her tires before we left) so we went shopping at Concord Mills instead. 1.4 million square feet of Outlet/Regular shopping mall. They had a Best Buy, Dave & Busters, Bass Pro Shop, and a TJMAXX/HOMEGOODS store!! Umm sounds like Heaven, eh? But somehow I only bought two pairs of Nine West flip flops!

4. We stopped at a random Outback and had dinn. I of course ate a Blooming Onion and other items. She eats the Blooming Onion as well... BUT she pulls the crunchy off the onion and just eats the onion because she heard onions were good for you... umm? By just her eating this onion she fills up so when her Alice Springs Chicken and half rack of RIBS come.. She's full. So we take her a to-go box... that she puts in our cooler and brings it all the way back to GA! She decided to eat it Monday morning oh about 9am-ish! YUM-OH!
5. Ohh the Hampton Inn in Elkin, NC needs to be shut down and redecorated COMPLETELY. As soon as you walk in you are bombarded with 140 fake plants and July 4th decorations everywhere. I wish I would have gotten a video of this for y'all but I think you would have to be there to truly grasp the beauty of their decorations. I mean, who drapes fake ivey from EVERY picture on the wall? So one of us goes to bed at 10-ish while the other one listens to the loudest snoring ever while watching My Fair Wedding. Even my pretty in pink earplugs couldn't drown out her snoring.

We wake up 8:30ish and I send her down to the continental breakfast while I get ready. So she went down TWICE.
   (Enjoying her lovely breakfast! )

This is her foot rest... the nightstand!!

6. So we finally make to Daddy's family's reunion! We were kinda late but they should expect that from us, ya know! I got to see all of my cousins minus my bff cousin who was with her precious bf so I couldn't be made. My Aunt Helen is a picture taking queen. Here is a photo that I found among all of her albums...
(BB... before braces! And how about my NKOTB shirt!?! )

7. We make it to Cola (Columbia) around 8ish and stop to meet my mom's millionaire-ish friend at an amazing restaurant on the bad side of town... Here's some of what we ordered...

My mom and her friend.
So excited.. she couldn't even keep her eyes open.
 Finally she opened her eyes!

Now you feel like you have traveled with us!! We are embarking on our first beach trip together since I was little, so that should be even more interesting!

Daddy's Girl

This year marks five Father's day without my sweet Daddy! They say it gets easier with time, but I think they're wrong. My life has not been the same without him. I am thankful for having such a wonderful father for the short time that he was here with me. He's probably the reason why I'm still single. No man can ever compare to such an amazing Daddy!! I will always miss you, my love!!
Love always,
Daddy's Little Princess

Let's Get Physical

It's 7am-ish any given day of the week and I'm brutally awakened by the sounds of some buff growth hormone injected meat-head lady hollering... "You got it girl, bend and lift, legs wider, and so on and so on...." No we are not running an Asian massage parlor. Half of my household likes to order various workout videos from late night infomercials.

If she is insisting on waking me up from her random workout shenanigans.. I'm going to blog about her and put her workout pictures on the WORLD WIBE WEB. I mean it just seems fair, eh?

This is what you're supposed to look like doing it..

This is what it looks like when my mama does it....

As you will see she likes to use hand weights for added benefits! And look at how nice she keeps that tushie!

This morning, she did happen to wake me up not by blaring her exercise workout tape but by screaming at me saying I was going to be late! (Added benefit of having her as my "roommate") So when I walked by the computer (junk) room, this is what I found...

Apparently Tuesdays are her "off" days! Gotta love her!

A couple extra pictures for your viewing pleasure!

Yoga, anyone?!?!

Sleeping Cho...

This past December, my darling mother and I traveled to Raleigh to attend my daddy's family's Christmas reunion. Mind you we haven't seen this side of the family since daddy's funeral in 04 (that's a long story that we shouldn't get into on a blog).

On two occasions while we were visiting the family my mother decided to take a NAP!! I myself am a nap-aholic but I know the time and place for my addiction but some of us have no restraints...

This picture is one that my cousin Jenna snapped because Mama Cho happened to be passed out in the LIVING ROOM where all the festivities were taking place! Sidenote: My cousin Jared, as seen in the picture, is having too much fun!

Obviously she is the life of any party and ya'll should probably send her an invite to any event you plan on hosting!

The NOTE...

My mother and I have always been on different schedules. She's always been a server at restaurants and I have always gone to school. So to get me to do chores, she would leave various notes around the house. Since she is full-Korean, her notes always lacked certain words. Since I feel that it's my main goal in life to keep her on her toes. I would just ignore the notes and say that I just couldn't figure out what she was actually talking about.

My favorite note from childhood was the one she would leave pretty much once a week... "Put clothes dryer." In my response, I would just tell her that I wasn't sure what she meant. Put clothes on the dryer, put clothes in the dryer, or put clothes next to the dryer. I mean really... it is a legitimate response!

So one Sunday afternoon, I was taking a nap and did not hear her beating on the door. She apparently lost her keys and had someone from the church bring her to the house. When I woke up from my lovely nap... I found this note on the door....

As you can tell.. This is a very important message!

Sidenote: notice the @ symbol.

"I lost keys. then I was here. I wonder where are you."
I really don't think this needs any further explanation.

Thank you Ilson for providing my friends comedic relief!
